Well, Desenfrenadas is Mexican, and so was AAM (although that was very much a different genre, it still delivered on what it promised). But for sure, Spain’s got some shows worth following. I will absolutely accede that Skam Espana also does what it sets out to do, lol. And of course they’ve had many shows over the years, just recently The Pier/El Embarcadero and Acacias 38 and Amar es para Siempre.
Learning Spanish opens up honestly some of the best f/f storytelling we’ve had on TV in recent years, when you look at Mexican, Spanish, and Argentine shows. And they say that if you know Spanish, you can understand Portuguese, so that adds Portugal and Brazil too. And you know, even when stuff is in English or has official subs, ODAAT and Gentefied and Vida, they’re feeding us well.
And the BTS content! We can’t rely on poor fans to translate everything. I’m still waiting on the Cultura Colectiva subs. Honestly…we should learn. Aside from the fact that there are a whole bunch of real live people who also speak the language who we can then converse with in their language. 😮
