Maya saying i love you seemed as if she was just reminding herself that she loves Carina and not to be angry at her more than anything else. Plus there is no growth going on in their relationship, Maya never talks to Carina the conversation she had with Andy should have been with her instead. She is still rude to Carina and she doesn’t try to explain herself to her and i can’t believe they never dealt with Andy moving in situation. It’s getting on my nerves how everyone gets screentime but them.

Ah! I see what you mean, like that, but the end result is the same thing, right, Maya making an effort?

Do agree that she needs to talk to Carina, I think we’re ALL agreed that there needs to be way more digging deep into their issues. Hopefully we’ll get more after the hiatus like they promised.

random but it seems like the umbrella academy writers picked up on the fact that a lot of people just don’t like Luther and decided the solution was to lean into how stupid and pathetic he is, and you know what, it kind of works

You know, I honestly wouldn’t be shocked if that’s exactly how it worked out. What irritated me and presumably others wasn’t even that he was acting so self-righteous and horrible but that the narrative was reinforcing it. The other siblings called it out but in the mildest of ways, they still went along with his plans. And that’s what really annoys me about oafish white men leads, where everything they think and feel is centered, even when they’re horrible, their growth and development is still central, at the expense of other characters’.

But the second season really did seem to pull back on that. It worked in two ways, by making him less intolerable and then by elevating the other siblings to a more equal level, especially Vanya. Like, I’ll usually go along with the narrative, but something really rebels in me at this kind of character getting such unearned narrative power, but this second season, when the narrative was inviting you to gently mock and sympathize with him, I was like, I guess. Heh, I mean, I’ll never love him, but I really left the first season loathing him to a point where I was unsure if I’d enjoy this season, but luckily it didn’t work out that way.

Just got done watching Station 19 because of your gifs but it’s so dramatic the spoilers didn’t even matter lol. Came back and basically every question I wanted answered you talked about in your tags but one thing idk if I just didn’t see, was why you didn’t like Maya with Jack. I love and want her with Carina. With Jack I’m between indifference and disgust with him but I found Jack to be way more tolerable when he was with Maya. They would for sure be too messy together right now though.

Lol, it is dramatic, isn’t it. Glad my tag essays addressed most of what you wanted to know!

Oh, I just hate Jack in general. Not for any lofty reasons, not because he’s Offensive or Problematic in any particular way, I just don’t like him. I mean, I could give you reasons but it’d be subjective, and as I’ve said, who in S19 (or Grey’s or PP) hasn’t made themselves unlikable at one point or another (except Carina, lol).

I didn’t want him with Andy either but when the show suddenly threw him and Maya into the same scenes, I was rolling my eyes at the soapy predictability of it all, since it seemed as much to cause drama with Andy as it was to pair off a couple of mains as a m/f couple. I stopped watching when that happened so I didn’t really see how different he was with her, but when I started watching again after they broke up, he was being all snippy and catty so I was like, good riddance.

I so wish I could understand Spanish and/or could see the full eps in English (let’s start a worldwide trending topic: #Netflix pick up Amar a muerte!! ;)). You wouldn’t be able to give a quick rundown on what happened between Eva/Mateo and Lucia/Leon, would you…? :-)

Netflix would be great, we’d get full proper subtitles and be able to support it officially.

Mateo confronted Eva about the affair and asked about the baby’s parentage and Eva tried to explain how it’d all started. It was just long angsty scene after scene.

Jacobo took Lucia to the theater where he’d originally proposed as Leon and then revealed it was him.
