As I’ve been settling down to post angrily about JJ for the next year and wondering why I feel so strongly about something I’ve literally never posted about before, I remembered I never answered these old asks sent around the time the first season came out, back in 2016. And you’re no longer around probably but I’m gonna clear out these asks if it’s the last thing I do.
By the time I watched, I’d forgotten about them, but I was actually pretty hazy myself on the ship question for a long time. That ending in s1, that I love you moment, was so, so wonderful and effective, I would kill to have something like that in canon f/f. Something that meaningful to the plot and meaningful in itself, this abrasive hard-bitten character softening for just that moment, in just that way. It was perfect, easily one of my favorite scenes ever.
But at the time, back then, I was in a weird place with subtext ships, thinking I’d finally “graduated” to canon, so I didn’t get heavily into it. Plus, there was Luke. Then season 2 came along and his role was lessened but the show was all about Jess and Trish as sisters and they weren’t exactly left in the best of places. At this point, though, I’ve accepted I’ll always ship subtext and I no longer care what the show says. I am on this ship.
