Christ, another rape in this ep (the 6th). What the hell is wrong with Blick? I was going to say that it wasn’t dragged on as long as the first time but watching her stumble around, bruises, injured, it’s incredibly disturbing. At least this time comments on the Guardian indicate more people are getting upset about how gratuitous they are. It’s just ruining the ability to watch and appreciate the rest of the episode when it’s so entirely unnecessary, we understand how much is being piled on Nessa and how much she’s suffered. There’s so much going on in this show, why do they need to hurt Nessa and the audience so much as we watch?

And I want to try and convey to you, broadly, how you are hurting women and hurting your own art form, and how easy it would be to stop. Because right now you’re coming across like a bunch of entitled babies terrified of a few girls in your clubhouse—demanding that women be thick-skinned about their own rapes while you’re too thin-skinned to handle even mild criticism. It’s embarrassing.

Friendly reminder that “baby it’s cold outside” is an actual song about rape.
Actually, not true as I recently found out from a friend.

You can’t just say “not true” as if there’s just one interpretation and that’s that. That person’s reading of it doesn’t invalidate all the others where it does come off as coercive. In fact, I’d wager there are more people who take that meaning than the other and don’t think there’s anything wrong with it. Part of the danger is in how it seems like an innocuous Christmas-y song but is very much telling men that women saying no just want/need to be convinced.
