=watching fort salem and pleasantly surprised! nice to see a new spin on “witchy” shows even if its a lil hammy and im interested to see how it delves into themes of war and blind loyalty and propoganda etc since thats what sets it apart. also it’s so cool that a wlw couple is so central to the story? its literally the main romance like WOW. also the girl who plays raelle is SO attractive. the scar! i have never been so charmed by a scar. sorry i just had to gush. i hope ur enjoying it too haha

I’m glad you’re liking it, anon! It does seem to be subverting and deconstructing a lot of those topics, although of course it’s still a Freeform show with its target audience so it works in those teen romances. BUT. Yes, the big central star-crossed lovers are wlw. That is always super cool when we get it.

And heh, no worries about the gushing, she is pretty but badass. The suit for Beltane was awesome. It’s cool they didn’t cover her scar, the circumstances under which she got it were terrible.

I was enjoying it, yeah, but I might drop it. It’s not holding me as much as I’d hoped and I didn’t like some of the choices they made. But I’m just one person, and many more people seem to be jumping onto it every week. 🙂

Idk if I like Salem yet after watching the first episode maybe a bit too military America shove in your face for a non American ??

Sorry, when it comes to answering asks I just draw random arbitrary lines in my inbox and try to catch up on everything after that and only then move back to the previous batch, and last time I drew it right after this one but since a new ep just aired, I decided to quickly answer this.

Heh, yeah, that’s very understandable. I watched the first ep and told my friend I thought the worldbuilding and details were pretty well done and then she, a European, watched and was like, uh, wtf is this. And I was like, you know, they’re treating them like how vets are treated and she was not a fan. But I mean, I also didn’t grow up in the US, nor even Pakistan, which is also pretty nationalistic, but to me the world they’re showing isn’t necessarily an endorsement of it? The inclusion of Raelle as one of the main characters with a justifiable grudge against the military and showing General Alder’s vampiric control over these women, I HOPE it’s going to deconstruct both sides, the military and the Spree. It better not be, welp, it’s a harsh life but necessary. These people were forced into this life, death or service is no choice.

But, lol, though I’m saying all this, for the moment, it’s not particularly a show I spend a ton of time or investment on. I watch it, I like it, I ship Abigail with all the women near her, and I move on till next week.

different fort salem anon. i actually really love abigail even though she has miles to grow as of now! i kinda ship her and raelle though. like an endgame ship. unless they can really turn the scylla thing around and give her a worthy redemption arc after everything goes to hell. abigail/raelle – 2 mains together would be great though.

Yeah, I definitely saw the potential for them but as of now they’re getting along and barely talking and both are wayyy too focused on other people. I definitely do love two mains, lol, you don’t have to sell ME on that, but they’d have to do a lot more for Abigail/Raelle to go there. I feel like Scylla has to play a bigger role than just being someone who breaks Raelle’s heart, if that was all there was to her, they’d have kept this reveal for now. Since we’re already expecting a betrayal and for Raelle to find out, the show has to set up another story layer. Although I’m unsure what, she’s been a pretty ruthless killer and manipulator so far.

Motherland Fort Salem anon again here. I’m curious about the character you like. Who is it? Also AAAAHHH Raelle and Scylla are so cute. Even when the audience knows Scylla’s a spree, i can’t help loving and shipping them. Also TALLY IS BABY!

It’s Abigail! 😀 I just like that perfectionist struggling under parental pressure kinda character. Also, maaaybe I’m shipping her and Libba just a scooch.

Lol, yeah, the audience has to be pretttty forgiving of Scylla, but so far, she and Raelle are making it work. At some point they’re gonna have to explain what other layer there is to it, because it can’t simply be this? General Alder and through her, the military, definitely have their demons, but just being opposed to something bad doesn’t make you good, if your ways are straight up terrorism. But can’t believe they’d do the reveal about Scylla this quickly and not have there be another twist waiting.

I love Tally! She’s so nice, but I like her standing up for herself.
