I dont think you guys understood when it was said that this girl is extra af in her acting. Is not just the dramatics: the body language, the tone of her voice, the facial expressions, is even her goddamn eyes. “The eyes chico, they never lie.” No they dont, but they sure as hell cam act!! Today in: even one more reason why Juliantina has set the bar too damn high.
Yep, just one more thing to make them inimitable. Whatever trick it is, most likely simply some particular sensitivity to dark, it just added to the whole falling deep and hard and fast effect they had going.

Do you know that scene where she’s sitting with Sergio (mad as fuck about their drunk tingy tingy) and the place is so illuminated that her pupils are so small and all you can see is blue? Maybe Maca’s really incorporated her character, I read some place that your pupils might change according to your emotions too, as you said, it’s not just about the lighting
Lol, I think that is what some people might be getting at, and maybe it is something she can somehow…influence, but there are plenty of times when she’s with other people and in other situations and they’re also like that.

my eyes are as blue as macas, they are Very Easily dilated in places that are even slightly dark. so while id like to believe its bc juliana, its not :/ even so if you analyze their scenes her eyes are never dilated at the park or bright places which they should if the theory was true. sorry buddies. also watch some of macas other work and you’ll see a pattern, her eyes are just sensitive as sad as it is lol
wait i found a good example, look again at the “tenemos que hablar” interview, the light is lowish but bright enough to see everything perfectly and her eyes are STILL blown tf out

Movies and tv shows often use special contacts that give the illusion of blown pupils for close-up scenes. That’s also how they do it for portraying drug addicts.
To the two anons about the dilated pupils, I read somewhere that there are many safe ways to cause an actor’s pupils to dilate. Apparently it’s a popular way to tell the story visually. It could be FX contacts or the way the lightning is set up (If the actor’s eyes are lit by minimal lights then it won’t affect the dilatation if the set is well lit) CGI is also often used and I think aam cinematographers went that route with Maca.
Possssible but I just don’t know if they’d do anything that elaborate for this. I think it’s just a thing that happens with her?

Looking at ur amazing juliantina gifs made me wonder abt acting and I dunno if u can answer it & if u cant its okay! How can some actors/actresses emulate involuntary reflex like the dilatation of pupils with such accuracy? I remember being so perplexed when I saw Lexa’s actress doing it- he pupils were so dilated when she looked at Clarke. Same for maca. She can even make herself look flushed. HOW

Um, hmm, definitely noticed that, especially for Maca. I dunno, I think that’s just them? If you see Maca in interviews with other people, the same thing happens. Maybe they’re just that sensitive to light? Or they get super into the character…? It’s an interesting question but I have no idea, sorry.
That scene where Val slowly turns Juls around against the counter and they declare their feelings for each other, whew. For the entire show I’d been content to let them/the writers go at their own pace with kisses and affection, but that scene man. It needed a kiss. Like, they needed a kiss anywhere in the finale anyway, but the buildup for one there was ridiculous. Barb and Maca have too much chemistry for their own good.
Agreed with every single darn word you said! I’d also argue the final scene should have had one too, but this scene was just aching for it. At least in the other one you could say they were in public and Lupe’d just arrived. But come on, how could a scene with this not have a kiss??
Their chemistry is just ridiculous.
Even near the end, this part when she needs for Juls to understand so badly and just grabs her face and tells her she wants to do this and then trails off
And in the silence Juls just looks at her beseechingly, silently asking what the “but” is, what could be more than them?
Honestly, just give them a camera and let them improvise their characters, they know them better than anyone else.
