Do you thing Vera is a lesbian? I’m really curious about that

I don’t know… One the one hand, she’s created this misleading idea about all the guys she’s slept with but it’s just a few and she’s never had an orgasm before, so her first and so far only is with a girl but on the other hand, she can drive, so. 😛 But really, on the other hand, there is the trauma that might account for the first part, not that she’s a lesbian.

I don’t really suppose it matters either way. But I think that as a fictional character who is the first billed of this series, it is less likely that she is written to be a lesbian.

Are we supposed to assume that Ro and Carlota don’t know that Vera was molested as a young kid? Bc I don’t think Ro would’ve made that comment to Vera about blaming her for being attacked if she knew her sexual assault history. I mean I would hope no one would make that kind of comment regardless but idk I feel like she would be more aware of Vera’s history to not say that. Sorry I’m rambling now lol

Yeah, I don’t think they know. Surely not. And exactly as you said, Ro shouldn’t have said that in any case, but knowing that??? No. I feel like even aside from that one time, if they knew, they’d allude to it in other ways, tiptoe around it, mention it at some point, reference it in hushed whispers. I don’t think Vera told anybody, not them, not her parents.

Just saw a post about Barbara’s accent in desenfrenadas and the difference between Juliana and Barbara’s own accent and I’m like wow

Oh? What’d it say? As I think I’ve mentioned, I’m not even that good with accents in English, people speaking in Spanish would be totally over my head. Even when y’all talked about Maca and her Argentine accent, I was like, sure, whatever you say. I guess you’re saying her accent as all three people is different? I’m impressed!

Hey! I’m glad you mentioned the victim blaming. We see Rocio a kind smart woman saying this without thinking. She grew up so much during that trip. She went from seeing nothing wrong with her misogynistic dad to telling him “I love you but I don’t wanna be you”. From victim blaming Vera to yelling Joshua “fuck she doesn’t want to, fuck she doesn’t want to fucker” the way her voice cracks at the end. ?

Yeah! I liked that as much as a girl power™! kinda show it was, there wasn’t any one right way to be, except supportive of other women. That even the smart, educated one had things to learn. She had a full arc of learning, about herself, about others, even how to practice medicine better from Juana.

And I think a lot of viewers probably might have felt the same as Rocio about Vera, and about Carly sending nudes to Toshi, no matter how modern and evolved they consider themselves, there’s a part of them that might have thought, “of course the guy was wrong but you put yourself in that situation”. Which is absolutely wrong, and in both cases they called it out.

My guess is just that the whisper is that they go explore another part of the beach. An innocent start. Vera acting on instinct, knowing she wants more alone time with Marcela without quite realizing exactly what she wants. Then, once they are there, Vera just stares at Marcela. She can’t help it. And Marcela is no dummy, she knows what that sort of look means. She isn’t sure if Vera knows what it means though, so she takes pity on Vera and kisses her.

Wow, getting a whole little ficlet in my inbox, and one that actually seems really in-character! Nice, anon.

That actually is super possible… It would go like that, as with so much of their interactions, Vera just throws stuff out there, Marcela would be the one to understand what she actually needed and shape it into what Vera didn’t even know she was asking for. God, I can literally imagine it, Vera just staring at Marcela, kind of challenging but imploring at the same time.
