I…really don’t…like how the writers seem to fixate on labels. My personal canon for the Queerios—if we must label, which Santana has been specifically written to avoid—is that Brittany is pansexual, Santana is bisexual (although maybe also pansexual, after Sexy), and Quinn…well, I still believe Quinn is a repressed lesbian, but whatever.
Anyway, thing is, I like labeling myself, because I feel I fit into that end of the spectrum. I have no interest in sexual or emotional relationships with men. Never have, can’t see ever doing so in the future. To me, from a definition standpoint, that’s what a lesbian is. Santana has never struck me that way. She dated Puck and had sex with plenty of other guys, and she never seemed to reference that with any kind of “I’m doing it for my image” vibe (until the Mad Gay Panic starting in Duets, anyway). She has said herself that she is attracted to boys. She’s also clearly in love with Brittany. This, to me, screams…not…lesbian.
I dunno. Basically, I think the writers are just trying to put the character in a box because it is the easiest way to handle a “complicated” storyline. Bisexuality, for whatever reason, confuses people. I think, if they are indeed aiming to make Santana a full-on lesbian, it would be something of a cop-out to avoid complexity.
But really, in the end, I think they’re only doing it so they have an excuse to introduce a female love interest while Brittany’s still with Artie. Which makes me angry, because I really hate the idea that someone who is in love (and Brittana is the only relationship I actually buy as real love, not fleeting teenage emotion) can switch it off so instantly. But whatever. Personal thing there.
(I’m so sorry that was a novel, geesh.)

Fic rec: Let your love grow tall by dollsome
Spoilers: through 2×16 “Original Song”
Summary: Everything’s easy when you never have to choose — or, Brittany’s side of the story. Here’s a secret: Brittany knows that Santana lied. It’s still cheating. Plumbing doesn’t matter.
I can’t express enough how much I love this story so much. I’ve always liked Brittany but somewhere along the way, with my first glimpse of Santana’s ‘bitch, please’ expression I’ve turned into a Santana fan. Naya just plays her so, so well. And, unfortunately, for Brittany the writers insisted on writing her like a kid in a grown up body. In the Football episode I began to see glimmers of the Brittany I liked then Sexy hit and no one in this fandom was the same again.
Santana’s journey was so raw and powerful sometimes it is hard to see anything else. But I found myself even more interested in Brittany’s side of the story, I wanted to know what’s going on inside that Luna Lovegood like head of hers.
This story, I think, is that. I love everything this story chose to be from Brittany navigating through her confusion to her reaching out to Santana and to that revelation by the end.
One of the best Brittany voices I have read in a while.
Had to go hunt this up on Google because I couldn’t find it again in my dash but I rec it so hard.

I had a dream where Brittana were pregnant and grown up and some guy broke into the underground bunker they were in (I don’t know) with a gun and at first I thought it was going to be some weird serious hostage situation but apparently it was just to stop them from naming their baby Jeff.
I don’t know.
