The whole juls being 18 is throwing me off. Not in a bad way per se, but now I wanna rewatch all her scenes, with and without valentina, with that in mind and see if I interpret her actions in a different way. It definitely puts the way Lupe sometimes treats her into perspective.

So yep, we got this reveal. I like how everyone’s all okay, hmm, interesting, I guess..? 

18 does seem so young, right, in a way 19 doesn’t (seem as young). But I’m not sure it changes that much for me personally, she doesn’t seem suddenly less mature as if through a different lens. There were already times when she would kind of lash out or react in a way that wasn’t the most mature. The way Lupe treats her isn’t really changed whether she’s a year or two older or not, not the way their lives seemed to have gone. 

But as for against Val, hmm. I know we have that one calculation based on the home vid but I dunno if we’re to take that as fact or if it was some arbitrary number the props department picked. I don’t suppose we’ll know for sure, but she’s definitely older. Do you think that’s what will change for you now, knowing Val is at least…2+ years older?

While the episode was angst as hell I notice a few things people didn’t praise on here and is that with all that shit going on Val didn’t drink. Also, she never stood to Lucho until he mention Juliana. She usually let him do things and I think both of this things are amazing as her character.

You’re right, anon. That was pretty tough as far as days go but she stuck it out and was even able to argue back against Eva’s literal conversion therapy idiocy. Usually in plots like this the characters are left with some doubt but she absolutely turned it around on Eva and stood her ground. She showed a lot of strength today, honestly, there’s some steel behind all that fluff. AND she did stand up to Lucho for Juls. A lot of standing up for Val yesterday. 🙂

I didn’t really mind the missed call so much, in the context of the ep. If she had answered she would have sounded so upset, she would only have upset Juls further. Though she does need to call her back, girl is justifiably worried.

Also about the phone call… people are going on about the name change but idk if that was an actual creative choice lol they changed the whole incoming call layout thing and telenovelas are not super accurate when it comes to that kind of stuff… (i might be wrong tho and it could actually be to reflect the moment they are going through, who knows lol)

Oh, I’d definitely say it was a change during a phone switch from the props people. Corrie had a bunch of different phones the girls used, for example, and it didn’t really seem to mean anything what user pic it was or what name was used. Literally what meaning would even be ascribed to that change? There’s no point in hiding what Juls is to her anymore. She uses Juliana when she’s worried about her all the time. If anything, it’s prettier and more meaningful. 😛
