I binged The Wilds because of your posts and now I’m empty, that ending was a set-up for a second season and it’s kind of a bummer we may have to wait a whole year or expect for it to be cancelled but, what were your thoughts on the series? Who was your favorite character? What was your favorite scene? I don’t know, I always look forward to whatever you have to say!

Yeah, gonna have to wait for a while…but I wonder if it helps that it was shot in NZ, which is honestly such a covid haven at the moment (knock on wood)? Maybe they still have to do the same tests and safety measures as other sets, I don’t know. But I’d also think being so outdoors for much of the story can only help. Too bad a bunch of the rest of the story is now in small dungeon-like rooms. 😡

I…thought it was a pretty engrossing watch, if you could get past some stuff (the YA vibes, how dark and traumatic some of the stories were). You know I’m always about character and this delivered that in spades

Favorite character? Martha’s mom. Not even joking, heh, she just radiated so much love for her daughter and compassion in general. But obviously you mean favorite island girl…I have such a hard time picking, I like different things about everyone, it’s so hard to pick just one and makes me feel disloyal, but I in this case, overall, I would say Fatin just brought me so much joy in general. But then I’m like, well, Dot, and then I can’t leave out Martha, and then it just continues from one to the next, like, I haven’t mentioned Toni or Shelby yet but of course I liked them too! I liked everyone, except I’m not sure I’ve entirely forgiven [the second mole]. It is hard to forgive someone who saw EVERYTHING they suffered, day in and day out, the food-poisoning, Fatin seemingly missing, people just starving and traumatized even without all that, and didn’t just end it.

And thank you! Thanks for letting me talk about it. 🙂

I watched an interview from the blonde actress(The Wilds) talking about her approach to her character and the words she chose to describe her role made me think hmm gay. So glad I’m right. I don’t watch trailers and was going to watch anyway, but I’m still happy I was right!

Heh, yeah, it was pretty obvious from just the promo, Toni was revealed to be gay off the bat and then a bunch more clips were her and Shelby. I kind of like how clear that was, even as something technically revealed late in the season, where two of the central characters are written for that from the start.

i’m so glad someone else brought up the wilds i’ve barely seen anyone talk about it!! i’m so excited for an all female lead show (the majority of them are also women of color!) i really hope it gets the hype it deserves

Oh, I didn’t really notice that about the makeup of the cast, but awesome! And yeah, I feel like even though it’ll be working against The Prom in terms of online hype, the fact that it’s a show works better for it. Hopefully once it’s out, people will discuss it.

What if Andy or Hughes gets pregnant and then goes to Carina… this way she would get more screen time and builds a relationship to the team.

Uh…that’s possible but that’s a way off for both of them at this point and the only other person…and I REALLY don’t want it to be her, lol. But really, I don’t want any of them to get pregnant, tbh, I was actually just discussing this with someone yesterday, how Miller has a kid and while it obviously does have an impact on his life and features in his storylines, for an actually pregnant firefighter, it’d be a very different thing. And while on a different show that might have been interesting to explore, this show…heh, nah.

Still…if it were Andy…that would be interesting and definitely an increase in screentime for Carina.

Wow I am baffled by people’s reaction to happiest season. I understand your sadness, this discourse is so hard to read :( Was not expecting this. I was talking to a friend the other day about why they decided on another in the closet/coming out story. But based on people’s reaction I stand corrected, those are obviously still needed….

Yeah… You know, the irony was, I wasn’t even that excited about it, when it was announced, I literally posted this: https://booasaur.tumblr.com/post/180630988565/me-a-new-ff-movie-with-recognizable-stars-and-a

And then I ended up thinking it was great! What an idiot I was. I wish now I hadn’t watched at all and just stayed away from it completely.

I don’t know if it’s needed, it’s certainly not effective. And people can say, all they want, how it’s because of Harper’s actions, because apparently they’re somehow decontextualized from her being closeted?, because in this situation THEY would never lie or briefly be a dick (and apologize), they would never put someone in this situation that apparently they had no choice to refuse, that basically, it’s Harper they find unsympathetic, not closeted people in general.

Even though we can see the comments they make that kind of DO apply to closeted people in general! Oh, she’s cowardly but in a different way from us? She doesn’t deserve love but in a different way from us? That out people are better in general, more confident, mature, but only when we’re talking about fictional characters?

But you know what the rub of it is. I’ve been really deep in some fandoms with closeted characters, who were as sympathetic as they claim Harper should have been. Jade from The Rich Man’s Daughter, who attempted suicide and who was slapped around by her family? Rana from Corrie who was shaking and sobbing and humiliated when her parents found out? I saw how they were treated. I saw how people treated Sophie from Batwoman. I don’t want to hear about this perfect closeted person who behaves like an angel, as if they themselves aren’t the biggest victim of the homophobia around them.

i am just starting station 19 and I have a question. you’ve always hated jack, why? andy is the one who cheated, andy and Jack were both fighting for the same position so they’re bound to compete with each other, jack defended andy when the chief mentioned nepotism. I’m just wondering because both andy and jack were brats and was stubborn while fighting for captain

As I’ve said, it’s nothing really based on anything particularly deep, all the characters at some point have looked bad, acting petulantly and self-righteously and hypocritically and selfishly…and at other times being quite wonderful. I had no issues with Jack in last week’s ep, for example, he was the only one trying to be nice and do his job tbh, amid all these people being distracted by their personal problems.

But no, I tend to dislike him just because, to me, his worst comes so often, is so easily excused by the narrative and other characters, and is just coupled with a level of entitlement I found hard to tolerate, especially at the start, when most of my feelings about the show and characters were taking hold. It’s just personal taste.

Hey! Quick question :) does The Haunting of Bly Manor have any exorcism scenes? I want to watch it with my girl but she is not into exorcist/exorcism At All, and I want to make sure before I ask her to watch it with me

I want to make a narnia blog joke about this but really, anon, I’ve only ever posted how I’m not gonna watch it so I’m not really sure how you did pick on me to ask, heh.

But I did ask my friend and she said, not really, “kind of” in ep 8, but not really there either. For what it’s worth, I’ve heard this season’s much more about the human element and drama, less about the supernatural (though it is there too, ofc).  ¯_(ツ)_/¯
