The Devil Wears Prada is a 2006 dramedy film based on Laura Weisberger’s 2003 novel of the same name. The novel spent 6 months on the New York Times bestseller list and its film adaptation was a commercial and critical hit, grossing over 300 million USD worldwide and earning a number of award nominations for its main cast.
The plot revolves around Andrea “Andy” Sachs, an aspiring young journalist who, despite her contempt for the fashion industry, accepts a job as personal assistant to Miranda Priestly, the editor-in-chief of fashion magazine Runway, in the hopes of kick-starting her career. The character of Miranda is loosely inspired by the real-life editor of Vogue, Anna Wintour, which deterred some high-profile industry figures from appearing in the film.
As a film with numerous female leads, the fandom for The Devil Wears Prada is unsurprisingly dominated by femslash pairings, in particular Andy/Miranda. Although an antagonistic character, Meryl Streep’s critically-acclaimed portrayal of Miranda contribute to making her one of the fandom’s most beloved characters, with her unapologetic attitude and scathing one-liners. The fandom is also filled with picscams, graphics made of a sequence of media screencaps, showcasing the film’s high-fashion costuming and design, which made it the most expensively costumed film of all time.

I noticed one of these routine AO3 fandom posts and had to add some specific authors I enjoyed, who might otherwise get lost in the AO3 pages because of moving their works over after so many years:
- As anyone who’s followed me for a length of time knows, I adore telanu’s Truth and Measure but she’s written a lot for the pair. Do mind the tags.
- chilly-flame’s written some mainstays for the fandom. Some of the fics might still be on her LJ.
- I started following fictorium’s work because of Swan Queen, but she has some great Mirandy too.
- random_flores (nuthintasee on tumblr) just writes plain good femslash for many fandoms. Also has a separate archive.
- thelastgoodname has just the one DWP fic on AO3 but more on LJ. And, recs!
This is just a start, there are a great many other good authors and fics. If I’ve left any out, that’s on my failing memory, not any kind of judgment on them.
