I consider this film a personal apology for Pretty in Pink. John Hughes wrote the screenplay to this 1987 film, his last foray into the teen genre. I never got the appeal of Pretty in Pink, a film that sends a terrible message to teen girls everywhere. Yes, girls, always choose the guy who treated you like absolute crap and was deeply ashamed of you. Wonderful. This film gets teen love right. Always choose the person who has always been there for you. They are the person you give your heart to, not the pretty face.
