I just watched Warrior Nun and I really liked it. What’s funny is that Ava doesn’t even listen to what JCs saying “just keep talking pretty boy” while it seems like she would listen to every word Beatrice would say even if she’d read the whole Bible to her. I think what they’re going for here is a contrast between a nothing but sexual attraction towards JC, which Ava is mistaking for being in love and a much deeper connection with Beatrice on the other hand.

Oh, haha, yeah, I…honestly am still kind of bewildered at how they wrote the JC part of the show, and the voiceovers just made it all so much more puzzling. It seemed like this totally different juvenile show. I’m not sure they were going for that specific contrast, everything Beatrice said happened to be a lot more relevant for Ava’s life, she could hardly be tuning out. And JC was already being dismissed as lust by Mary, when they were talking about her leaving JC behind.

But yeah, again, as with all the Avatrice elements, intentional or not, they could certainly use them in the future if they so wanted.

Do you think Shannon and Mary could’ve been together romantically?

Okay, this is interesting. I also watched that recent Simon Barry interview where he answered some questions and one of those was about Shannon and Mary. Basically he was like, no, I wasn’t really intending anything romantic, but watching it back, I see it and you know, actors can change how something comes out. I get that, there’s the writing and then there’s the acting and sometimes we lean on one or the other or a mix.

Here, I think the intention behind the writing had been to kickstart Mary’s arc through losing Shannon, so their relationship had to be highlighted separately from the others, so we get the ILYs specifically between them, I think someone else, Vincent (? or Lilith?) referred to them having a special relationship, obviously Mary at the start of the show not wanting to give up on her, going to Shannon’s room and being familiar in it. And then that would drive her vengeance and protectiveness over Ava, enough to fight Lilith. So that was the writing and as always, when you get a really strong f-f friendship even on paper, it’s like, wellll, if that were a guy and a girl… >_>

BUT THEN, I think the acting TOTALLY pushed it over the edge. The nuzzle at the start? It just all came across as more romantic than intended, so yeah, to answer your question, yes, absolutely, I think so. And I think in a world without BYG tropes and without having to worry that confirming it explicitly would make people then focus on Mary’s sexuality and how that was represented, they would have probably been like, yeah, they were together.

Hi, it’s me the anon that ‘Ask’ about the story of Sister Melanie. Just WOW ( ^ 0 ^ ) you really created a GIF set about that. Seeing the comparison side by side like that is making me ship Ava and Beatrice more and more LOL

Hi, anon! It was a really great observation, I’m so happy you thought of it! And I know, I’m trying to not let myself sink too deeply into that, but it’s simply canon fact that without even knowing the halo would kick in, when Ava saw Beatrice under threat from a GUN, she RAN TOWARD IT with no intention but to interfere somehow even if that meant putting herself in harm’s way.

It was in fact the halo that surprised her (and all of them) and saved her from jumping straight into the path of the bullets. She’s hardly at the stage of (near) invincibility where she’s going to instinctively seek out that kind of damage, even if the halo HAD been able to absorb that kind of damage, she’s not nearly at that point yet, this was just her.

And the person she did that for is Beatrice. Sure, maybe it’d have been for anyone. But it wasn’t.
