Hello, I don’t know whom should I ask, but do you happen to know why suddenly there are characters in american series called Amaya? That’s actually my name and for me it is something curious to hear it in a foreign series. I mean, here in Spain is a common name, specially in the northern part, not so much where I live, near the Albufera by the way. But since 4 years ago or so it is used in series and Mariska Hargitays’ daughter is called so too. Thank you and sorry to bother you.

Hmm, I can’t offer any insight, but I have noticed it too! In fact, I was talking about subtext ships just a couple of nights ago noticed that in a small pool of recent ships, there was Amaya on Legends of Tomorrow and General Amaya in The Dragon Prince. What a coincidence. Which is probbbably what it is, the fact that there are just so many more characters and names out there and more variation in naming them and more diversity in who names them, and it IS such a beautiful name, makes sense why it’d pop up more once it made its way over. Probably one of those things, like why there are so many queer Kates and Alexes. And as my friend reminded me, Nikos. 🙂

And awesome, you live near Albufera? Does it look and feel anything like how it’s shown in El Embarcadero? Because if so, lucky!
