I always thought val would be the one to break the pact since she’s always so unapologetic in going after what she wants and she has such a sheltered life until recently. This show brings so many surprises

I thought so too. She was under so much pressure, wasn’t answering the phone calls.

But I think it kind of couldn’t be her? The romance they’re selling is so epic and so star-crossed, her caving because of pressure just wouldn’t work. Of course that would be understandable in real life but in this story, it would come across as her not loving Juls enough. Instead, it broke because Juls loves her too much.

looking at your asks ‘post-breakup’ scene, it’s nice to see the folks here being reasonable about why juls reacted the way that she did. i feel like most people, from what i’ve noticed on twitter, are so quick to anger and blame juls for her decision and are so focused on val’s perspective since the past few episodes were mainly about her outing and the repercussions of it that they completely forget to consider from juls’ point of view and how might these events effect her.

I wanted to answer this specifically after the previous ask, lol. They arrived almost together (that one first) and I just sat there for a bit, looking at them in bemusement.

“Reasonable” is maybe not the word I’d go for, I don’t want to apply that connotation either way, but yeah, I do support a more…balanced view?

Maybe you have a point that the show’s been showing Val suffering very obvious bullying and already going two rounds with her sister and that affects how some viewers relate to them. This goes back to the other ask about praise for their acting, where what Val gets is more clearly spelled out compared to the more subtler quieter moments for Juls.

Because I think we’ve seen enough of Juls’s side of things too, leaving that worried voicemail, that scene with Lupe in bed that I’d even commented on for being noteworthy in its inclusion. It wasn’t a loud, dramatic scene, it was just very slowly and softly painful. Juls has been suffering throughout this. She doesn’t suggest a break for the fun of it, it’s constantly in the back of her mind. When the cop warned her, twice. When Lucho insulted her at school when Juls didn’t even want to go. When Val missed her classes for her. When Silvina warned her. When Silvina woke them up, when they had to avoid Eva, when Lucho attacked them, when Val wouldn’t accept her calls, when her mom told her they were from different worlds, when Eva freaking showed up at their house, when she wasn’t even allowed in the car, and when Val showed her the bullying messages on her phone. It was all building, we saw it building.

This…this isn’t a criticism-free zone. I don’t think everything both of them do is perfect. I just don’t see the point of shipping characters if you don’t give both of them the benefit of sympathy and understanding.

In the instagram live Barbara said that the car scene was done 5 times and they had a ‘mega atazcon’ meaning it was too intense/heavy and she confirmed that they censored/cut a lot of it. In the Raze interview they said there was a car scene where Juls grabs Vals boob and Val gets mad and she said ‘La quitaron’ they took it away but idk if its from the script or deleted from the final cut. So fans want to see the uncut version of the car scene.

Hah, I had to go back a bunch of pages to find this one, but I did want to answer it finally to say congratulations! I guess the trend worked. And at a time when we really needed a positive distraction, lol.

Juls was harsh to Val. Didn’t think about Vals feelings. Only thinking about herself and how her mom was going to react. I am dissapointed

That is not at all how I read it. She was thinking about Val more than anything else.

Nothing’s changed regarding her mother, she could just continue to not tell her. There’s no reason to break up because of that. Juls only brought it up as a reason Val could accept, since “I’m doing it for you” would never fly.

The whole framing, of the previous episodes and this one and this specific conversation, are making it much more about Juls’s issues with her place in Val’s life and the disruption she’s causing to it than anything else.

To put it simply, everyone around her, everyone who has any kind of remotely positive interest in Val or her, has said they won’t last, that she’s bringing trouble to Val. She just had Val’s sister show up and say she’s destroying Val’s life and then found out she couldn’t even get in the car. That. Would. Be. Mortifying. Would she want Val to go through that? For her? Tbh, I don’t think she’s actually correct in making this decision because it’s not up to her to make, it’s Val’s. But she thinks she’s not worth it. That’s the biggest tragedy here and the takeaway. That the people around them have put them in this position.

I only see praises for Maca’s acting but Barbara is doing an amazing job too, they’re an amazing team. In Spanish the word we use when 2 actors/actress bring the best of them when they’re together is “replica” if they didn’t give each other this amazing replica Juliantina wouldn’t be as amazing as it is.

Oh, I hope I’ve praised both and not singled out one. Maca might seem to get more of it because Val’s so open and expressive, those heart eyes are very remarkable, but this ship really could not work without both of them doing exactly what they’re doing. Barbara’s job is equally difficult, to show emotion with much less expression allowed, Juls is supposed to be so much more closed off, and that makes the moments when she does lower her guard that much more amazing.

It’s so nice that there’s an actual word for it, “replica”. 🙂 They definitely both deserve all the praise for this. My friend started watching the other night and even though she’s already heard me say natural! organic! open! a million times, she’s still so stunned and telling me about it. 😀 Which I love, to be clear. Their dynamic is one of those things that pops up so rarely.
