Okay, first of all, I’m sooooo sorry it took me so long to respond. You asked this before TRMD even started and now look where we are.
First. Gabi/Ariana. They are so cute, right???? I may have let them slide a bit since that show’s ending and they haven’t been on tooo much and TRMD kind of took up my life, but I still really like them, and I hope you do watch today’s ep.
TRMD… It just makes me giggle and grin at the very existence of it. I assume you definitely at least tried that one.
As for other recs, I am so bad with picking favorites, and I’ve not really seen that many shows. jetgirl78‘s list is pretty great, and if you check the shows’ individual tags, you can see her comments on them.
I’m assuming if you’ve watched El Elegido and Los Hombres de Paco then
you’ve watched the other older storylines in Hospital Central and Bad Girls. I think I’ve probably gif’ed or posted about everything I like, but here’s a short list of things anyway:
– Heartless (Emilie x Sophie): supernatural high school Danish series, only 5 eps and maybe cancelled, ending on a cliffhanger-y note but definitely a central relationship
– Crownies/Janet King (Ash x Janet): Australian legal series, Janet King is this badass prosecutor, one of the regular characters in Crownies and the main in its spinoff, Janet King. She and her relationship aren’t always the center of the show but they’re featured a solid amount and it’s just nice to see a mainstream genre show treat its lesbian character this well.
– Yudh (Kavita x Mona): Indian drama/conspiracy thriller kind of thing, one of the fairly main characters begins a relationship and while it doesn’t take a lot of screentime or is very demonstrative, it’s fairly groundbreaking for India and I just found them cute. Cliffhanger ending and probably cancelled as well, though.
– GSZS (Anni x Jasmin) – German soap, an actually really well built slow burn couple with some major longevity, they’ve hit a rough patch recently, but I’m rooting for them!
– GTST (Anna x Wiet) – Dutch soap, the couple hasn’t been together as long, and…lordy, they make the worst decisions, watching them is an exercise in frustration, but they are weirdly cute, navigating their TERRIBLE life choices together.
– Los vecinos en guerra (Agustina x Valeria) – Argentine soap, okay, this one might not be great for some people since the Valeria character doesn’t start off as the best person (or ever really is one, but her first episodes especially, whew) and there were some questionable narrative choices but when they WERE together, they were very adorable. I have a soft spot for them despite how many times they made me shake my head
– Les revenants (Julie x Laure) – French supernatural series, atmospheric and eerie more than horror, good on its own, the couple is just icing. There is a second season that’ll air soon, after a few years’ break and Laure will not be returning, but with the way the show works, that doesn’t mean she’s gone forever, if there’s a third season, she might show up? I dunno.
Seonam Girls High School Investigators (Eun Bin x Soo Yun) – The lesbian arc here happened over just a couple of eps near the end, 11 and 12, but it was surprisingly well done. I think it was probably the character of Soo Yun that sold it, she was really endearing in a defiant martyr kind of way.
– Seis Hermanas (Celia x Petra) – Notttt sure if this’ll happen, actually, the show’s still airing (and I don’t believe there are any English cuts available), but…possible. It’s a Spanish period drama about six sisters and Celia is the scholarly one who doesn’t have a main male character interest, but instead seems to have developed a pretty close friendship with Petra
– Felizes para Sempre? (Denise x Marilla) – Okay, um, spoiler alert to the very end so if you don’t want to know stop reading right now, this is your last chance, if you’re still reading I’m assuming you want to know, how much longer can I make this, even if you’re a glance and read type you must have paused at this point if you really cared…I assume…okay, so the ending is freaking terrible. If you are looking for just their story, when you get to ep 10, just stop in the middle. The plot’s kind of out there, lots of drama and intrigue and well, cheating on all sides, but the actresses are gorgeous and totally sell it, and if you are the type of person to enjoy that kind of thing, I would be remiss in not mentioning it.
