Dozens of Palestinian bodies were recovered from rubble in the Gaza Strip, medics said, in the middle of a 12-hour humanitarian ceasefire. Since the start of Israel’s offensive 900 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, most of them civilians, and about 6,000 injured. The Israeli government launched the offensive saying the goal was to curb rocket fire from Gaza. Since the ground operation started a week earlier, the objective has been expanded to target tunnels penetrating from Gaza into Israel. EPA/OLIVER WEIKEN
